What's missing
Where the app can't follow a rule to the letter yet, its notes say so, and say how to allow for it when you enter your hours. From this page's agreements:
- The app uses the 2022–2024 rules, which New York's 2026 wage schedules still follow, with the 2026 wage; a rule changed since isn't in it yet. Work under the National Maintenance Agreement or another national agreement has its own rules and isn't built in yet.
- Connecticut doesn't print the foreman, general foreman or apprentice dollar rates, so the app works them out from those rules, rounded to the cent (a general foreman may be paid more than the minimum).
- Connecticut publishes its rates once a year, on July 1, and doesn't say when the $50.21 step began; the agreement's raises fall on January 1, so the app uses it from January 1 2026, and for earlier weeks too (it was $48.21 in 2025: for a 2025 week use Enter my own rate). A raise on January 1 2027 isn't published yet: then type your new rate under Enter my own rate.
- The app pays $2.00 on every night, so a 3rd shift is $0.25 an hour short, and only on straight-time hours, as the agreement doesn't say whether the premium is paid on overtime.
- The app doesn't add the paid meal by itself because the agreement doesn't say at what rate it's paid: if your stub pays it, add the half hour to the day's hours.
- The agreement doesn't say how it's taxed; a daily amount for getting to work is normally taxable wages under IRS rules, so the app adds it to taxable pay (no dues or vacation on it), and on every day with hours logged. It's also owed for a holiday in the regular work week when you work the scheduled days before and after; the app doesn't add that.
- Local 237 files no report to the US Department of Labor that shows its field dues, so the app takes 4.25% of gross wages, the least the IBB Constitution allows (type your lodge's % on the Settings tab). The per-hour amounts are the 2022 ones printed in the agreement (newer ones aren't published) and are counted on hours worked. The LEAP political fund ($0.05 an hour, only on a signed card, Art. 31) isn't taken. Monthly dues ($58) are paid to the lodge yourself, so they aren't on the check.
Enter your own hours in the Boilermaker app: it applies these rates, the overtime and holiday rules, dues and tax, and keeps a year of paychecks. Free for a month.
Your agreement isn't here, or a number is wrong? Send us your agreement from the app's Settings tab. If the app doesn't have it yet, you get a free year when it's added.
