What's missing
Where the app can't follow a rule to the letter yet, its notes say so, and say how to allow for it when you enter your hours. From this page's agreements:
- The agreement prints only the percentages, so the app works out apprentice and helper rates as the journeyman rate times the percentage, rounded to the cent (Local 107 publishes its 2026 apprentice table and it matches this to the cent). An apprentice certified with the employer as a tube welder gets 20% more and as a plate welder 5% more, up to 95%: pick the period with that percentage or use Enter my own rate.
- Weeks before January 1 2026 are worked out at the 2026 rates (this agreement doesn't print the 2025 ones); for a 2025 week use Enter my own rate. On January 1 2027 the package goes up $4.24 an hour ($3.11 on January 1 2028) and the union splits it between the wage and the funds before each January 1 (Art. 13.1), so the app keeps the 2026 rates until the 2027 rate sheet is out: then type your new rate under Enter my own rate.
- The app treats every night as a 2nd shift and leaves the differentials out, so a 2nd shift is $0.25 an hour worked short, and a 3rd shift of 7 hours gets 7.47 hours' pay instead of 8 plus $0.50 an hour. On a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, and on a 4×10 (where the second shift works 9½ hours for 10, Art. 7.2.1), the app adds no paid-but-not-worked time. The pension memo counts the extra half hour as time paid.
- The agreement doesn't say how subsistence is taxed. Under IRS rules a daily amount paid while you go home every night is taxable wages, so the app adds the $50 to taxable pay (no dues or vacation on it); the $100 is a tax-free per diem when you stay away from home overnight, or taxable if you pick the drive-home choice. After 16 hours in a row on site every hour is double time; the app doesn't work that out.
- The app takes no vacation off, so your take-home here is higher than your stub by that amount.
- Local 647's 2025 report to the US Department of Labor gives field dues as a range, 1% to 5.5% of gross wages, without saying who pays which; the app takes 5.5%, so type your % on the Settings tab if your stub shows less. Per-hour deductions are counted on hours worked. Monthly dues ($58.00 for 2026) are paid to the lodge yourself, so they aren't on the check.
Enter your own hours in the Boilermaker app: it applies these rates, the overtime and holiday rules, dues and tax, and keeps a year of paychecks. Free for a month.
