What's missing
Where the app can't follow a rule to the letter yet, its notes say so, and say how to allow for it when you enter your hours. From this page's agreements:
- A new rate dated May 2026 is listed by the state but couldn't be read (its site refuses automated reading), so the app keeps the 2025 rate: once your 2026 rate is on your stub, type it under Enter my own rate.
- The state prints the percentages, so the apprentice dollars are the journeyman rate times the percentage, rounded to the cent.
- The app's make-up day runs at straight time up to 10 hours and 40 for the week (the state says 8 hours), even in a week with a holiday.
- The app lets a make-up day run at straight time up to 40 hours even in a week with a holiday.
- Every night is taken as a 2nd shift (+10%); for a 3rd or irregular shift use Enter my own rate with the 15% added.
- A holiday on a Saturday stays on its date, and whether a holiday not worked is paid isn't printed, so the app pays nothing for it.
- Whether the 4% is figured on your wage or on the wage plus benefits isn't published; the app takes 4% of your wages (as the Mid-America council's 4% is, in Chicago), so if your stub figures it on the package your dues are about $1.38 an hour higher. Whether some of the benefits ($34.52 an hour, printed as one total) is vacation money taken from your pay isn't known either: if it is, take-home here is higher than your stub by that much.
Enter your own hours in the Carpenter app: it applies these rates, the overtime and holiday rules, dues and tax, and keeps a year of paychecks. Free for a month.
A number on this page is wrong? Report a wrong rate: it opens the app's feedback box with this page named, no email needed.
