What's missing
Where the app can't follow a rule to the letter yet, its notes say so, and say how to allow for it when you enter your hours. From this page's agreements:
- Mechanical insulation and firestopping. The only posted agreement is the union book for May 2022 to April 30 2025; the current one isn't posted, so every rule, zone and deduction below is from the 2022–2025 book and may have changed since. The 2026 rate is New York State's prevailing-wage schedule for 2026–27 (Local 40's yearly step is May 1).
- Mechanical insulation and firestopping. New York prints only the apprentice percentages, so the app works out the dollars, rounded to the cent, and the 2025 firestopping, apprentice and foreman rates the same way from $41.74. On May 1 2027 the package goes up $2.00, to be allocated: the app keeps the 2026 rates until your new rate is out, then type it under Enter my own rate.
- Mechanical insulation and firestopping. The app has no triple-time rate, so Labor Day hours show at double time, a third short of what's owed.
- Mechanical insulation and firestopping. The book doesn't give its overtime; the app pays 10 hours straight, then 2 hours at time and a half and double time after, and the Friday like a Saturday.
- Mechanical insulation and firestopping. The premium is added only on straight-time hours.
- Mechanical insulation and firestopping. The book moves only a Sunday holiday, so a Saturday one stays on the Saturday.
- Mechanical insulation and firestopping. The current amounts aren't published, so the app uses the book's, counts the savings fund on hours worked and takes it from apprentices too. Monthly dues, if your employer takes them out, go on the Settings tab.
- Mechanical insulation and firestopping. The book doesn't say how the daily amounts are taxed; a flat daily amount is normally taxable wages under IRS rules, so the app adds it to taxable pay, with no work assessment on it.
- Clinton, Franklin and Vermont (85% of the rate).
- Clinton, Franklin and Vermont (85% of the rate). The book gives only the 85% rule, so the app works out every rate from it, rounded to the cent (85% of $43.02 = $36.57, apprentices at their percentage of that, the foreman amounts added on top), and has no firestopping class here (use Enter my own rate). On May 1 2027 the package goes up $2.00, to be allocated: the app keeps the 2026 rates until then.
- Clinton, Franklin and Vermont (85% of the rate). The app has no triple-time rate, so Labor Day hours show at double time, a third short of what's owed.

Enter your own hours in the Insulator app: it applies these rates, the overtime and holiday rules, dues and tax, and keeps a year of paychecks. Free for a month.
